Commercial Swimming Pool for Retirement Community

case study: Saratoga Retirement Community (Formerly Odd Fellows)

The Project
Barry Swenson Builder, one of the premier builders in the Bay Area, has been involved with the Saratoga Retirement Community (Formerly Odd Fellows) since 1996. Lifetime Pools‚ involvement also goes back that far submitting budgetary numbers and preliminary design information. Construction of the project was done in phases and when it came time for the pool to begin in 2004, Lifetime Pools was contracted to start the design drawings and pull the permits.

The Challenge
Sequencing was critical since this pool was eventually going to be enclosed. We had to come in after the footings and structural walls for the building were built but before the framing began on the side walls and ceiling. Among other critical points, the equipment for the pool was located below the pool in a vault. There was no practical way to vent the pool and spa heaters. The sanitation system that was proposed was large and mostly unnecessary since there would be a full time maintenance staff on site.

The Solution
After several meetings with the Builder, Architect, and Owner, Lifetime Pools proposed alternative solutions for the venting and chlorination systems in the mechanical room. By switching to a different type of heater, unsightly sheet metal venting was replaced with small PVC pipes. This not only saved a considerable amount of money, but it kept the Architect's vision of a clean and attractive wall on the outside of the building intact. The chlorination system was changed to a simpler system that performed to the Owner's requirements at half the cost.

The Result
As you can see, the project turned out beautifully. This type of project sets Lifetime Pools apart from all other builders in the Bay Area. Over 40 years of expertise was utilized in the installation of a top quality project while saving the Owner precious resources.
